Kto si, čo robíš, čo ťa najviac zaujíma práve v týchto dňoch ?
Z: Čauko volám sa Zoli mám 22 rokov,som cyklokuriér pre Dáme Jídlo v Olomouci. Chovám africké slimáky, hada a morské prasa menom Viktor.
P: Meno je pady, som cyklokuriér, v C&D hrám na base, s priateľkou sa staráme o kvetiny a o slimáky, v poslednom čase ma najviac zaujíma asi to, aké nohavice si kúpiť na zimu
V: Viktor, 26r. Pracujem ako programátor a asi aj na to vyzerám. Aktuálne a vlastne aj dlhodobo riešim (časovú) efektivitu. Možno preto mám rád nedokonalosť a neporiadok v izbe.
Vymenuj kapely a projekty, v ktorých si pôsobil a na čo si hral.
Z: Moja prvá kapela bola v Hurbanove s kamošmi z detstva,volala sa Pso-vod pri ktorej som sa nechtiac dostal ku bicím (pozdravujem kamarátov). Neskôr na to som sa presťahoval do Bratislavy, kde som skúšal rôzne nevydarené projekty s kamarátmi. Asi rok som pôsobil v revival kapele Paramones kde som hral na gitaru. A potom mi prišiel do života Viktor s ktorým hrám doteraz a už navždy aj chcem!
P: Prvú kapelu som mal ked som mal asi 16, volali sme sa the smokies, hrali sme pank, zlý, mali sme jeden koncert, na ktory prišla aj moja babka, potom sme vyhodili basáka, vykradli nam skúšobňu a táto kapela nadobro skončila, v tejto kapele som hral gitaru, potom som mal kapelu pohreb, legendárna kapela, ktorá nemá nahraný ani jeden track, nemá žiaden album, na bicích hral viktor, gitarista zo shallov, pozdravujem, táto kapela mala smutnejší osud, jednotliví členovia museli odísť a kapela skončila a potom ma raz na pive chalani zobrali do c&d.
V: Tu by som rád pozdravil Rola, ktorý sa ma ešte dávno udivene spýtal, že “a ty nevieš hrať na gitare?”. Tak to začalo, prvá bola kapela Makové rezanky na gymku. Jedna z miliardy školských kapiel hrajúca covery britpopových šlágrov. Uff, ale niekto nám tuším spravil aj transparent! Potom sa pokusy pritvrdzovali a teraz hráme metal.
Popíš svoju poslednú výbavu (nástroj, aparatúru, efekty) a čím je/bola pre teba zaujímavá?
Z: Ako bubeník bicie nevlastním až na rytmičák a zo dva činely,ostatné veci šejrujem od brata Erika (pozdravujem). Reálne vlastním Jackson gitaru a aparatúru Orange hlavu a Marshall bedňu. Zaujímave sú pre mňa preto lebo ich vlastním.
P: Hrám na base dean demonator, podpisovka neviem koho, má veľmi metalový tvar, mám ju od Dĺžňa (pozdravujem), mám k nej nejaké krabičky, digitech death metal, ktorý vlastní Zoli, pozdravujem, boss octaver, ktorý vlastní Dušan zo shallov, pozdravujem, a ehx bass blogger, ktorý ale nemám veľmi rád. Predám. V skúšobni mám 100w basové kombo, na koncertoch hrám na tom, čo je k dispo.
V: Mám asi príliš veľa gitár na to, aký som gitarista. V zásade hrám len na jednej, aktuálne bazošová SGčka, prvá ne-stratová gitara. Ďalší veľký krok bol, keď som si už konečne vyriešil pedalboard a narval doň všetky tie efekty, ktorých je snáď..občas až príliš veľa. Hrám cez Zoliho zosík Orange a taktiež jeho Marshall bedňu.
Je umenie subjektívne alebo objektívne ? Čo je ten moment, ktorý oddeľuje "manuálnu zručnosť" od umenia?
Z: Umenie môže byť akékoľvek, pokial umelec vkladá do toho svoje srdce a myslí to naozaj tak. Svojím spôsobom každý kto dokáže spraviť nejaký zvuk alebo niečo nakresliť sa stáva umelcom.
P: Umenie je subjektívne, lebo odráža pocity a emócie človeka, ktory ho vytvoril rozdiel - manuálna zručnosť bez umenia je remeslo
V: Umenie je z princípu subjektívne a je to podľa mňa niečo, čo sa nedá zmerať alebo nejak exaktne opísať. Zručnosť je, keď niekto zahrá super technické speedmetalové sólo na gitare. Pre mňa je ale umením v hudbe, keď to niekto vymyslí a zahrá tak, aby ma to zaujalo.
Má mať umenie hranice resp. sú temy, do ktorých by umenie nemalo zasahovať ?
Z: Umenie by nemalo mať hranice.
P: Umenie má iba jednu hranicu a za tou sa nachádza gýč. Umenie sa môže zaoberať všetkými témami, ktoré ponúka tento život, nemá obmedzenia, vzhľadom na to, že úlohou umenia je okrem iného napríklad aj šokovať.
V: Umenie hranice nemá a nemalo by mať, no nemalo by slúžiť na propagandu spoločenský neprípustných tém.
Čo je Tvoja osobná hranica, za ktorou nie si ochotný akceptovať interpreta/umelca ?

Kde berieš inšpiráciu k tvorbe ?
Z: Inšpiráciu beriem z hudby, ktorú počúvam ale aj nepočúvam, inšpiráciu beriem aj zo zvuku rozbitého pohára alebo karbobrúsky.
P: Pri počúvaní akejkoľvek hudby sa mi stane, že zbadám melódiu/motív/zhluk tónov, ktoré sa mi páčia, takže inšpiráciu hľadám všade naokolo seba, niekedy to príde samé, niekedy zase nie a potom beriem inšpiráciu od kapely Sleep.
V: Asi z hudby, s ktorou sa stretnem. Občas si rád zapíšem, keď ma niečo zaujme. Potom keď je v hudbe ťažko, tak to vylovím. Čo sa v skutočnosti častejšie stáva, že sa mi nejaká časť skladby zapíše do hlavy a potom sa o mesiac vynorí trochu skomolená. Najlepšia kombinácia je, keď mám vtedy ľahkú hlavu a tá skladba nebola metalová. Podľa mňa je super čerpať z iných žánrov.
Ktorý album/song z tvojej/vašej tvorby máš najradšej a prečo ?
Z: Najradšej mám náš jediný album ktorý máme. Pesničku mám najradšej 7mičku spojenú s 11tkou. Sú impulzívne striedavo pomalo rýchle energetické, je v nich všetko od blackmetalu až po postrock. Osobne pre mňa najprísnejší song čo sme zatial spravili(chystajú sa aj prísnejšie).
P: Zoli mi vyfúkol jedenástku, lebo mi trvalo najdlhšie naučiť sa ju zahrat a aj teraz sa mi podarí pomýliť sa v nej, je tam kombinácia postrocku, BM a tak sa mi to páči!
V: Najlepšia pesnička je vtedy tá, pri ktorej sa mi zježia chlpy. Ale povedal by som, že asi 13ka, pretože je to ešte pre nás výzva a konečne používam aj reverzný delay.
Ktorý text tvojej kapely považuješ za najsilnejší (+úryvok) ?
Z: Texty zatial nemáme lebo nemáme speváka, čo podľa mňa vôbec nevadí v inštrumentálnej kapele.Ale najsilnejší je pre mňa text ktorý sa mi odohráva v hlave počas hrania.
P: Zoli to zhrnul, ale mali sme speváčku (pozdravujem). Hrala s nami jeden koncert a ja napríklad dodnes netuším, čo spievala, takže ten text je môj najobľúbenejší. Nikdy som si o sebe nemyslel, že viem písať texty, takže ich nepíšem. Pozdravujeme všetkých, ktorí nám po koncerte povedali, že sú veľmi radi, ze nemame vokál.
V: Ten, ktorý je ešte len niekde v šuflíku.
Aké boli tvoje hudobné ambície v časoch ked si začínal a aká je realita ?
Z: Moje hudobné ambície boli od malička stať sa rockerom a mať reálnu kapelu. Realita je taká, že hrám v rockovej kapele takže ambície sú splnené. Do budúcna mám veľké ambície čo sa týka všetkého.
P: Nemal som žiadne ambície, dodnes nemám, ale dopadlo to oveľa lepšie, ako som si kedy predstavoval. Hrám koncerty, super.
V: Zo začiatku bez ambicií, možno si len nejako udržať to hranie. Dnes budem rád, ak si niekedy zahráme v Košiciach, pripadne niekde za hranicami (pozdravujem všetkých budúcich organizátorov/ky a návštevníkov/čky).
Čo považuješ za doteraz najsilnejší moment vlastnej umeleckej dráhy (naschvál sa vyhýbam slovu kariéra) ?
Z: Najsilnejší moment mojej umeleckej dráhy bol ked sme s Viktorom založili túto kapelu a začali sme ju brať vážne.
P: Silný moment bol pre mňa to, keď sme na jednom koncerte na garážach predali asi 10 tričiek a týpci sa s nami chceli fotiť, podávali nám ruky, že sa im to veľmi páčilo, že kúpili by si aj album, ale no, nemáme. Jáj a uplne dobre je to, keď dohráme a ľudia vriskajú.
V: Vždy vtedy, keď sa naša hudba páči aj iným, ako naším kamošom. Alebo silný prelomový moment je, keď sa niekto ide pozrieť na pedalboard a pochváli zvuk.
Zaujímavá príhoda/príhody zo života kapely, o ktorú/é sa môžeš podeliť ? Ako vysoko si sa dostal na rebríčku dekadencie ?
Z: Zaujímavých príhod je strašne moc veľa,jedna zo zaujímavejších je ked sme došli do skúšobne a zistili sme že ani jeden z nás nemá zo sebou kľúče od skúšobne.
P: Zaujímavé bolo napr. to, keď sme na vlastný koncert prišli s kargobajkom a vlastne všetky koncerty mimo ba sú zaujímavé, pre mňa ozajstne kapelné dobrodružstvo, ako keby niečo znamenáme. Napr. koncert v Trnave, v Kubíku (pozdravujeme). Postarali sa o nás ukážkovo, pozdravujem, rovnako koncert v Hurbanove U Aničky, 100% catering, pozdravujeme tiež.
V: Mám rád, keď ideme na koncert na bajkoch. To sa stáva relatívne často, len veci sa vezú v aute. No raz sme to dali aj na kargo bajku (Tu pozdravujem Padyho). Páčil sa mi aj popolnočný ping-pong v Kubíku.
Aké tvorivé plány máš do budúcnosti?
Z: Chcel by som vymyslieť niečo veľké a fakt dobré, no zatiaľ je to nedohľadne, ale verím že to bude trvať kratšie ako nedohľadne.
P: Nevysrať sa na to.
V: Konečne skúsiť stereo zvuk.
Cítiš sa byť súčasťou domácej scény ? Ak áno, ktorej ?
Z: Cítim sa.
P: Áno, lebo máme merch a ľudia ho nosia hehe.
V: Necítim, pretože neviem presne pomenovať tú scénu. Ale niekde isto.
Ako sa podľa teba formovala domáca scéna od 1990's a v čom boli špecifické jednotlivé dekády pre teba osobne, pre tvoju kapelu a pre SK UG scénu?
Z: Neviem odpovedať.
P:V 90s som počúval Petra Nagyho a deti, k hudbe z toho obdobia som prišiel až neskôr, undergroundovú scénu na Slovensku som začal sledovať možno v roku 2002, kopec kapiel vzniklo, kopec zaniklo,
niektorí ľudia ostali a hrajú v troch kapelách naraz.
V: To si netrúfam povedať. Mením sa aj ja, rovnako ako aj trendy alebo hudba okolo mňa. Teší ma, že človek má už nejakú dobu ľahký prístup k rôznej hudbe.
V čom mali podla teba výhodu kapely, ktoré začínali v 90's oproti dnešnym kapelám a naopak, čo vnímaš ako výhody dnešnej doby ?
Z: Kapely v 90’ mali výhodu že ešte toho nebolo tak veľa ako je toho dnes a každý mal možnosť spraviť niečo nové aj napriek tomu že nebola možnosť mať hocijaký efekt,hudobný nástroj proste bolo to obmedzené, čo dnes je je veľmi lahké,vojdeš do obchodu a ak máš peniaze tak máš.
P: V 90tych rokoch bolo o niečo jednoduchšie byť prelomovou kapelou oproti súčasnosti sa dostane tvoja tvorba k ľudom rýchlejšie.
V: Podľa mňa sa zmenili hlavne možnosti. Dnes je jednoduchšie sa k hudbe dostať alebo ju vytvárať. Nemusíš už ani lepiť plagáty na koncert a všetko máš na webe alebo v obchodoch. Dúfam len, že si to ľudia cenia.
Ktoré SK UG kapely a žánre si mal rád v minulosti, a ktoré máš rád dnes?
Z: Ako malý som počúval Slovenský UG Punk a momentálne mám radšej tvrdšiu hudbu ale nevadí mi keď si zaspomínam na detsvo.
P: V minulosti som počúval vela pankovych kapiel, ne úplne dobrých možno, a petržalský rep.
Petržalský rep počúvam dodnes, okrem toho nejakú psychedeliu, stoner, rap, grind, death, black, dnb, techno..
V: Prienik z minulosťou mám už možno len s obdobím československého bigbeatu a čo ovplyvnil aj v tých ďalších rokoch. Inak mám v zásade ráď všetko na škále od klasickej hudby po techno. Hlavne to, čo sa mi vie pohrať s hlavou!
Čo je podľa teba spoločný menovateľ, ktorý spája umelcov z rôznych žánrov/scén a čo ich naopak rozdeľuje ?
Z: Spoločný menovateľ môže byť práve UG scéna ktorá umelcov spája na koncertoch,pri pive a podobne.Rozdeľuje ich osobné odmietnutie spolupracovať kvôli rozdielnosti určitého žánru.
P: Spája ich túžba niečo tvorit/vytvoriť, rozdeluje ich politika.
V: Určite zdieľajú všetky tie problémy a potešenia z hudby. A čo rozdeľuje? Asi to, čo ľudí vo všeobecnosti - politicko-spoločenské názory.
Čo ťa na domácej scéne serie?
Z: Kokoti.
P: So Sk ug scénou som spokojný, podľa mňa to má význam a nie je to stratené resp. sere ma, ked nestíham koncerty.
V: Nič konkrétne. Ale tešil by som sa, ak by si ľudia viac priali a pomáhali.
Ktorý zvuk (štúdio, album/kapela), artwork (album cover) a videoklip na domácej scéne ťa zaujal najviac ?
Z: Najviac ma doteraz asi zaujala kapela Shallov (pozdravujem) kvôli geniálnej tvorbe,zvuku…proste super práca! Čo sa týka videoklipu momentálne by som chcel pozdraviť kamarátov z kapely Besna čo pred nedávnom vydali svoj prvý videoklip ktorý ma moc zaujal a nehovoriac o novej tvorbe ktorú robia! Teším sa na nové veci od nich.
P: Staré logo betónu s húfnicou, pozdravujeme. Besna má nový klip, ešte som ho nevidel, ale pozdravujem tiež.
V: Vo viacerých kategóriách u mňa vyhráva Shallov (pozdravujem). Ale som zvedavý na novú Besnu (pozdravujem). Už by sme mohli spáchať aj niečo spoločné!
Hudobný album, kniha, film, seriál, počítačová hra, tetovacie štúdio a pivo ktoré odporúčaš a prečo.
Z: Hudobný album odporúčam Auðn – Vökudraumsins Fangi. Knihu by som odporučil hocijakú od spisovateľa Jules Verne. Film hm. Určite Into The Wild. Na seriály bohužiaľ nemám čas a ani na počítačové hry. Tetovacie štúdio samozrejme Prime Tattoo (pozdravujem Denisku). Pivo mám najradšej asi Smädného Mnícha, lebo má premna silné spomienky, ale odporúčam každé pivo ktoré je studené!

V: Každému by som odporučil dávku absurdnosti a experimentu. A preto napr.: Duds (duds duds) - Of a nature or degree alebo ked metal, tak Mamaleek; Richard Brautigen - Pstruholov v Amerike, Leri Oggi Domani, Kraťase (príbehy) od Hitchcocka, The Stenley Parable. Tetovanie ide mimo mňa. Čo sa týka piva, väčšinou mi stačí akciové studené. Aj tak väčšina z týchto vecí je o nastavení!
Ktorá domáca/zahraničná akcia je pre teba najlepšia a prečo ?
Z: Domáca jednoznačne FFUD fest,zahraničné som zatial moc nestihol obehať ale určite možno odporučiť Fluff fest. Jedným slovom spomienky a zážitky.
P: Domáca ffud fest, family fest. Na zahraničné akcie už veľmi nechodím.
V: Zo Slovenska je to Skapal pes fest v Trebišove, pretože je DIY, na nič sa nehrá a napriek tomu je to proste kvalitná pecka. No a samozrejme ma teší, že aj takto sa na východe drží kultúra. Zo Slovinska je to showcaseový Ment. Pre fanúšikov Fuzzclubu by som odporučil Fuzzfest. Trochu mi už chýbajú koncerty tohto druhu u nás. Každopádne chcem pozdraviť ľudí okolo Real Something, Psychosmics rock, cez ktorých eventy som spoznal veľa dobrého!

Z: Hey! My name's Zoli, I'm 22 years old and I work as a bicycle courier for Dáme Jídlo in Olomouc. I keep African giant snails, a snake, and a guinea pig named Viktor.
P: My name's Pady. I'm also a bicycle courier. I play bass in C&D. My girlfriend and I take care of our plants and our snails. Lately, the biggest question in my life has probably been what kind of trousers I should buy for winter.
V: Viktor, 26. I'm a programmer, and I probably look like one too. Right now—and honestly for quite a while now—I've been obsessed with (time) efficiency. Maybe that's why I have such a soft spot for imperfection and a messy room.
Tell us about the bands and projects you've played in and what instruments you played.
Z: My first band was called Pso-vod. We started it in my hometown of Hurbanovo with a bunch of childhood friends, and somehow I accidentally ended up behind the drums. Shout-out to the guys! Later I moved to Bratislava, where I played in a few unsuccessful projects with friends. For about a year I played guitar in a Ramones tribute band called Paramones. Then Viktor came into my life, and we've been playing together ever since—and hopefully forever!
P: My first band was when I was around sixteen. We were called The Smokies. We played punk. Bad punk. We played exactly one show, and even my grandma came. Then we kicked out the bassist, our rehearsal room got robbed, and that was the end of the band.
I played guitar there. After that I had another band called Pohreb ("Funeral")—a legendary band that never recorded a single song and never released anything. Viktor played drums there, along with the guitarist from Shallows—hello there! That band had a sad ending too, as members gradually had to leave and it eventually fell apart.
Then one day, over a beer, the guys invited me to join C&D.
V: I'd like to give a shout-out to Rolo, who once looked at me in disbelief and asked: "Wait... you don't know how to play guitar?" That's where it all started.
My first band was Makové rezanky back in high school. Just one of billions of school bands playing Britpop covers. Someone even made us a banner, if I remember correctly! Later the musical experiments became heavier and heavier... and now we're playing metal.
Describe your current gear (instrument, amp, effects). What makes it interesting or special to you?
Z: As a drummer I don't actually own a full drum kit—just a snare and a couple of cymbals. Everything else I borrow from my brother Erik. Shout-out to him! What I actually own is a Jackson guitar, an Orange head and a Marshall cabinet. They're interesting because... well... I own them.
P: I play a Dean Demonator bass. It's someone's signature model—I honestly have no idea whose. It has a very metal shape. I got it from Dĺžeň—shout-out! My pedal collection includes a Digitech Death Metal pedal that actually belongs to Zoli (shout-out), a Boss Octaver that belongs to Dušan from Shallows (shout-out), and an EHX Bass Blogger, which I don't really like.

At the rehearsal room I use a 100-watt bass combo, and at gigs I simply play through whatever's available.
V: I probably own far too many guitars considering the guitarist I actually am. In reality I only play one of them—a second-hand SG I found on Bazoš, my first guitar that wasn't a Strat. Another big milestone was finally putting together a proper pedalboard and squeezing all those effects onto it. Sometimes I think there are... maybe a few too many.
I play through Zoli's Orange amp head and his Marshall cabinet as well.
Is art subjective or objective? What separates technical skill from actual art?
Z: Art can be anything, as long as the artist puts their heart into it and genuinely means it. In a way, anyone who can create a sound or draw something becomes an artist.
P: Art is subjective because it reflects the emotions and feelings of the person who created it. Technical skill without art is just craftsmanship.
V: Art is subjective by definition. It's something you can't really measure or describe objectively. Skill is when someone plays an insanely technical speed metal solo. Art, to me, is when someone comes up with something and plays it in a way that actually grabs my attention.
Should art have limits? Are there topics that art shouldn't touch?
Z: Art shouldn't have limits.
P: Art has only one boundary—and beyond it lies kitsch. Art can deal with any subject life has to offer. It shouldn't have restrictions because one of its purposes is to provoke.
V: Art shouldn't have limits, but it also shouldn't be used as propaganda for socially unacceptable ideas.
Where is your personal line? What would make you stop supporting an artist?
Z: If they're a fucking Nazi.
P: If they're a fucking Nazi.

Where do you find inspiration for your music?
Z: I get inspiration from music I listen to, music I don't listen to, the sound of a glass breaking, or even an angle grinder.
P: Whenever I listen to music—pretty much any music—I sometimes hear a melody, a motif or a bunch of notes that sticks with me. So I find inspiration everywhere. Sometimes it comes naturally, sometimes it doesn't, and then I just borrow some inspiration from Sleep.
V: Mostly from whatever music I happen to come across. Sometimes I write things down when something catches my attention, and when I'm stuck later, I dig those notes back out. More often though, a piece of music gets stuck in my head and reappears a month later in a slightly distorted form. The best results come when my mind is clear and the original song wasn't metal. I think it's great to draw inspiration from completely different genres.
Which album or song of your own do you like the most, and why?
Z: My favourite is our only album so far. As for songs, I'd pick track seven flowing into track eleven. They're impulsive, switching between slow and fast, full of energy, and there's everything from black metal to post-rock in them. For me, it's the hardest thing we've written so far... although we're planning even heavier stuff.
P: Zoli stole my answer. I'd also pick track eleven because it took me forever to learn how to play it—and I still mess it up sometimes. It's got post-rock mixed with black metal, and that's exactly what I like about it.
V: My favourite song is always the one that gives me goosebumps. But if I had to choose, I'd say track thirteen. It's still a challenge for us to play, and it's the first time I finally get to use a reverse delay.
Which of your lyrics do you consider your strongest? (Feel free to quote a passage.)
Z: We don't really have lyrics because we don't have a vocalist, which I think is perfectly fine for an instrumental band. The strongest lyrics are the ones playing inside my own head while we're performing.
P: Zoli summed it up pretty well. We did have a singer once (shout-out!). She played exactly one gig with us, and to this day I have absolutely no idea what she was singing about. So those are probably my favourite lyrics. I've never thought of myself as someone who can write lyrics anyway, so I don't. Shout-out to everyone who's told us after gigs that they're actually happy we don't have vocals.
V: The best lyrics are still sitting in a drawer somewhere.
What were your musical ambitions when you started, and how does reality compare?
Z: Ever since I was a kid I wanted to become a rocker and play in a real band. Well... now I do play in a rock band, so mission accomplished. As for the future, my ambitions are huge.
P: I never really had any ambitions, and honestly I still don't. But things turned out much better than I could have imagined. I get to play gigs. That's awesome.
V: At first I had no ambitions beyond simply keeping the band going. Today I'd be happy if we could play in Košice someday—or even somewhere abroad. (Shout-out to all future promoters and everyone who'll come to those shows.)
What has been the strongest moment of your artistic journey so far? (I'm deliberately avoiding the word "career".)
Z: The biggest moment was when Viktor and I started this band and decided to take it seriously.
P: A big moment for me was selling around ten T-shirts at one gig in the Garáže venue. People wanted photos with us, shook our hands, told us how much they enjoyed the show, and said they'd buy our album too... if we actually had one. And it's always an amazing feeling when we finish playing and people start cheering.
V: Every time someone outside our circle of friends genuinely likes our music. Or when somebody walks over to my pedalboard after a gig and compliments my guitar sound.
Any interesting stories from the band's life? How high have you climbed on the decadence scale?
Z: There are way too many stories. One of my favourites is when we arrived at the rehearsal room and realised that not a single one of us had remembered to bring the key.
P: One fun moment was showing up to our own gig on a cargo bike. Actually, every show outside Bratislava feels like a proper band adventure—as if we were somebody important. The show in Trnava at Kubík (shout-out!) was fantastic. They took amazing care of us. Same goes for the gig at U Aničky in Hurbanovo—100% catering, huge thanks to them as well.
V: I love riding bicycles to gigs. We do that quite often, although the gear usually travels by car. Once, though, we managed to haul everything on a cargo bike. (Shout-out to Pady.) I also have fond memories of playing table tennis after midnight at Kubík.
What are your creative plans for the future?
Z: I'd love to come up with something really big and really good. So far it's nowhere in sight, but hopefully "nowhere in sight" won't last forever.
P: Not to give up.
V: Finally try playing in stereo.
Do you feel like you're part of the local scene? If so, which one?
Z: I do.
P: Yeah. We've got merch and people actually wear it, haha.
V: Not really, because I couldn't even tell you what scene exactly I'd belong to. But I'm probably part of one somewhere.
How do you think the Slovak underground scene has evolved since the 1990s? What made each decade unique for you personally, for your band, and for the local underground?
Z: I honestly don't know.
P: In the '90s I was listening to Peter Nagy and Deti. I only discovered the music from that period much later. I probably started following the Slovak underground around 2002. A lot of bands appeared, a lot disappeared, and some people somehow managed to stay around and now play in three bands at once.
V: I wouldn't dare answer that. I've changed over the years, just like the trends and the music around me. What I'm happy about is how easy it has become to discover all kinds of music.
What advantages did bands starting in the '90s have compared to today's bands? And what do you see as the biggest advantage of the current era?
Z: Bands in the '90s had the advantage that there simply wasn't as much music around as there is today. It was easier to come up with something genuinely new, even though gear, effects and instruments were much harder to get. Everything was limited. Today, if you've got the money, you just walk into a shop and buy whatever you want.
P: In the '90s it was definitely easier to become a groundbreaking band. On the other hand, nowadays it's much easier for your music to reach people.
V: I think the biggest change is simply the amount of possibilities we have today. It's much easier to discover music and to create it. You don't even have to put up posters for your gigs anymore—everything happens online or is available in shops. I just hope people still appreciate that.
Which Slovak underground bands and genres did you enjoy in the past, and what are you into today?
Z: When I was a kid I listened to Slovak underground punk. Nowadays I prefer heavier music, but I still enjoy going back to those childhood memories every now and then.
P: Back then I listened to loads of punk bands—most of them probably not very good—and also Petržalka rap. I still listen to Petržalka rap today, along with psychedelic rock, stoner, rap, grind, death metal, black metal, drum & bass and techno.
V: The only thing that has really stayed with me over the years is Czechoslovak big beat and everything that grew out of it. Otherwise I enjoy pretty much anything between classical music and techno. As long as it messes with my head in the right way.
What do you think is the common denominator that connects artists from different genres and scenes? And what divides them?
Z: The underground itself probably connects people—meeting at gigs, sharing beers and all that. What divides them is when people refuse to cooperate simply because someone plays a different genre.
P: The desire to create brings them together. Politics divides them.
V: I think musicians all share the same struggles and the same joys that come with making music. And what divides them? Probably the same things that divide people in general—politics and social views.
What annoys you about the local scene?
Z: Assholes.
P: Honestly, I'm happy with the Slovak underground. I think it still matters and isn't a lost cause. The only thing that annoys me is when I can't make it to all the gigs.
V: Nothing in particular. I'd just like to see people support and help each other a bit more.
Which sound (studio, album or band), artwork (album cover) and music video from the local scene have impressed you the most?
Z: So far I'd probably have to say Shallov (shout-out!), mainly because of their incredible songwriting, sound... just great work all around. As for music videos, I'd like to give another shout-out to our friends in Besna, who recently released their first video. It really impressed me, and so does the new material they're working on. I'm looking forward to hearing what comes next.
P: The old Betón logo with the howitzer. Shout-out. Besna have a new video too—I haven't actually seen it yet, but shout-out to them as well.
V: Shallov (shout-out!) wins in several categories for me. But I'm also really curious about Besna's new material (shout-out!). We should finally make something together!
Recommend a music album, book, film, TV series, video game, tattoo studio and beer—and tell us why.
Z: I'd recommend Auðn – Vökudraumsins Fangi. For books, pretty much anything by Jules Verne. As for films—definitely Into the Wild. I don't really have time for TV series or video games these days. Tattoo studio? Prime Tattoo (shout-out to Deniska!). My favourite beer is probably Smädný Mních, mostly because it brings back a lot of memories. But honestly, I recommend any beer that's cold.
P:

V: I'd recommend a healthy dose of absurdity and experimentation. So, for example: Duds – Of a Nature or Degree. If we're talking metal, then definitely Mamaleek. As for books: Richard Brautigan – Trout Fishing in America, Leri Oggi Domani, Hitchcock's Short Stories, and the game The Stanley Parable. Tattoos aren't really my thing. As for beer, a cold one that's on sale usually does the job. Most of these things are really just a matter of mindset anyway.
Which local and international festival or event is your favourite, and why?
Z: In Slovakia it's definitely FFUD Fest. I haven't had the chance to visit many festivals abroad yet, but I'd definitely recommend Fluff Fest. One word: memories.
P: FFUD Fest. It's basically a family festival. I don't really travel to foreign festivals anymore.
V: In Slovakia I'd choose Skapal Pes Fest in Trebišov. It's completely DIY, doesn't pretend to be anything it's not, and it's simply an amazing festival. I'm also happy to see this kind of culture still thriving in eastern Slovakia. Outside Slovakia I'd recommend MENT Ljubljana, and if you're into Fuzz Club bands, definitely Fuzz Fest. I kind of miss these types of events over here. And I'd also like to give a shout-out to the people behind Real Something and Psychosmics Rock—I've discovered a lot of great music thanks to the events they've organised.
