Zuvembie Necroneon - Into the Fleshbound Dominion (EP 2025)
By Flork
If you’ve ever wondered what it would sound like if a coven of leather-clad ghosts started a hardcore punk band in a crumbling cathedral, London’s Zuvembie Necroneon may have just answered your question. Their debut four-track EP Into the Fleshbound Dominion, which will be out October 13th this year, is a haunting, gothic-punk exorcism wrapped in feedback, fury, and frenzy.
Opening with the title track, the band wastes no time establishing their aesthetic, which consists of breakneck tempos and guitars that reach into eerie, high-register melodies. The vocals sound like they’ve clawed their way out of a mausoleum—cool and ghoul. The contrast is intoxicating. Throughout the EP we’re exposed to jagged, shimmering guitar leads (many of the higher notes and chords played on the thinner strings), which slice through walls of distortion while the vocals deliver gothic, apocalyptic mantras with a growl, which wouldn’t be out of place in extreme metal. The effect is both anthemic and otherworldly.
Land of Disarray continues the sonic battering, with its layers of chaotic energy and creeping atmosphere that manages to feel both manic and ceremonial. But it’s the third track that truly twists the knife—Paranoid Destructor—and then licks the blade. Somehow, this cool little tune fuses the snap and swagger of surf rock with a festering, morbid core, playing more like Hellhammer after a week on a haunted Californian beach. It’s bizarre, catchy, and legitimately unsettling.
Closing out the EP is Phantasmagoric Apocalypse, which is a fittingly titled final blast that feels like riding a ghost train into a burning opera house. By the time it ends, you're left breathless—and likely a little possessed.
And the Florkman’s prognosis? What makes Into the Fleshbound Dominion so compelling is Zuvembie Necroneon’s commitment to contradiction. By this, I mean speed and atmosphere, beauty and decay, or punk’s immediacy with a touch of gothic grandeur. It’s a short release, but its impact lingers — like a curse whispered just under the noise.
And fortunately for us it’s due out just in time for the Halloween season, since Into the Fleshbound Dominion is a high-speed descent into the macabre. Highly recommended for fans of early AFI, Rudimentary Peni, maybe even Christian Death — or anyone who ever got the urge to mosh at a séance.
